Anomaly Detected Veteran Mode Guide — What We Know
Veteran mode in Anomaly Detected — the hard difficulty confirmed by per-chapter badges, what is documented about it, and how to prepare for your first Veteran shift.
Veteran mode is the game’s hard difficulty — confirmed by dedicated per-chapter completion badges added July 22, 2026, a month after launch. It exists on every chapter from The Residence to The Hospital — a Mall Veteran badge is already waiting for that chapter’s launch — and clearing it is the middle tier of the badge ladder between standard completion and Journal 100%.
What is Veteran mode?
The game’s elevated difficulty rating. Completing a chapter “on any difficulty” unlocks the next — Veteran is the optional harder tier that exists for players who have mastered standard shifts, not a progression requirement.
Honest caveat: the exact mechanical differences between Standard and Veteran are not officially documented — no public source has published confirmed numbers for anomaly spawn rate, quota, or fail limits on Veteran. What is documented: it is harder (the badge exists precisely because fewer people clear it), and it tests the same skills under worse conditions. We will update this page with verified mechanics as the community documents them — treat any site quoting exact Veteran numbers right now as unverified.
The fail budget on screen — Standard shifts observed so far start at 5 fails. Whether Veteran tightens that number is exactly the kind of detail still undocumented. (Community gameplay capture.)
How do I prepare for Veteran?
- Zero wrong-category reports on Standard first. On Veteran, fail economics are presumably harsher — a skill issue that costs you a shift on Standard will cost it faster on Veteran. Drill the nine anomaly types until identification is reflexive.
- Run a strict camera cycle. Overwhelm is the silent killer — anomalies stacking unseen while you fixate on one feed. A fixed rotation order prevents tunnel vision.
- Budget items. A $25 Anomaly Remover or $85 Type Scanner from the store is cheaper than a failed Veteran shift. Know which consumable solves which problem before you queue.
- Pick your first Veteran chapter wisely. The Residence is the site every player knows best — earn the badge on The Residence before attempting The Hospital, whose Journal 100% badge is held by only four players worldwide.
Is Veteran worth it?
For the badge, yes — the per-chapter Veteran badges are the realistic endgame for most players (Journal 100% is a different league). For practice, also yes: Veteran pressure is the fastest way to find the holes in your anomaly-spotting routine. If you want the safety net while learning it, the R$99 Unlimited Fails gamepass removes the fail limit — expensive, but it converts Veteran from a punishment loop into a training mode.
